Joaquin Alfredo-Angel Rubalcaba is an Assistant Professor of in the Department of Public Policy at University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. His research focuses on uncovering the systemic challenges perpetuated by policies that undermine access to first-class citizenship, particularly emphasizing how (non)citizenship functions as a stratifying factor. By examining how citizenship status intersects with other social determinants, he aims to clarify the pervasive and often overlooked inequalities that impede equitable access to opportunities and resources among some of the most disadvantaged populations within American society.
